The School of Calligraphy and Ornamentation is presenting you with a one-year intensive program to introduce you to the traditional arts of the book that will include calligraphy, ornamentation, gilding, miniature painting and bookmaking crafts. This program is a great way to start with traditional arts especially the Islamic ones and it will give you an understanding of all the stages in creating a beautiful traditional manuscript.

Our Location
Each month will be dedicated to a specifc subject as outlined by the program’s schedule below. When you sign up to the intensive program, all he workshops during the year from Monday to Thursday will be included.
We will be teaching most of these courses in the Fujairah Fine Art Academy until our dedicated building is available next winter.

This program is completely practical and you will be learning the hand skills with each course. - How much of this program should I attend?
We recommend that you attend the whole program, lack of attendance will be reflected in the certificate and in the acquired skills. - Can I attend only one area of study or one workshop a month?
If you are not able to commit to the full program, you can enrol in individual weeks that you can purchase separately from the workshop page if there are seats available. - Who is going to teach the program?
We have invited a number of international and local artists and experts in their fields to teach the subjects. There will be a different expert every two weeks or every week. - How much is the program’s fee?
It is 8500 AED - What is included in this fee?
The weekly program from Monday to Thursday from September 2023 to July 2024. - Are materials included in this fee?
Yes, all materials are provided for you - Are Saturday workshops included in this fee?
No, they are not, but you are welcome to join by purchasing the chosen workshops from the workshop page. - Is the annual retreat included in this fee?
No, it is not, but you are welcome to join us. It will be for one week and more details will be added on the retreat page. - How much is the first payment?
You will have to pay 500AED as a deposit when you are accepted. - Can I pay in full or instalments?
You can either pay the full fee from the start or instalments every two months starting in October. Delay in paying the instalments will impact your ability to attend the courses. - Is the fee refundable?
No, so please be sure you want to be part of the program - What kind of certificate would I get?
You will get a certificate from the School of Gilding & Ornamentation and the Fujairah Fine Art Academy detailing the house you have attended and the projects you have completed. - Are there future programs planned?
Yes we are hoping to have a program every year. - Is this program accredited?
The program is currently not accredited, but we are working very hard in getting accreditation in the coming years.
