Ruq’a Calligraphy – May

This workshop is a great introduction to the Ruq’ah style of calligraphy and you can start learning it with one of our resident calligraphers. You can choose if you would like to dedicate once or twice a week to learning this style of calligraphy from the drop down menu below. Each week, you can practice writing a new word or short sentences until you are proficient enough to produce a complete piece.

Course Goals:

  • learn the tools of Arabic calligraphy, such as pens and inks,
  • Preparing the inkwell
  • Sitting correctly for writing
  • Holding and controlling the calligraphy pen
  • Producing a small piece with Ruq’ah calligraphy

Learning Objectives: 

1. Learn single letters
2. Learn letter connections
3. Learn to write short sentences
4. Learn to write artistic paintings
5. Learn how to prepare a painting template
6. Learn how to frill and use distressed paper

Course Outcome: Producing a series of simple written works.

    • Age: Adults (16+)
    • Workshop Dates and Times: 
      • Sundays (5, 12, 19, 26  May) 4:30 – 6 pm | 6 hours of learning | 120 AED
      • Mondays and Wednesdays (6, 8, 13, 15, 20, 22, 27, 29 May) 6- 8 pm | 16 hours of learning | 320 AED
      • Tuesdays and Thursdays (7, 9, 14, 16, 21, 23, 28, 30) 4-6 pm | 16 hours of learning | 320 AED

    Workshop Location: Villa #16 in Naseem Albahar, AlFaseel, near Sharq Hospital 

    Calligraphy Tutor:
    This will be taught by our resident calligraphers either Mr. Mohammad Abu Almajd or Mohsen Nassar.

  • No refunds are acceptable and you need to attend the specified hours and times listed on this page.
  • Please note that you should attend at least 90% of the hours to receive your attendance certificate for this course.
