Drawing Geometric Patterns – May

About: Islamic geometry is an essential skill in Islamic art and it is the basis of many beautiful designs. This is a great beginners workshop, where you will learn how to draw traditional Islamic patterns using a compass and a ruler and then colour in these patterns to see the different emerging geometric shapes.

This course will be about: 

  • Introduction to Geometric shapes used in Islamic patterns.
  • Drawing simple geometric patterns.
  • Colouring patterns to see the beautiful geometric shapes.
  • Age: 16+
  • Workshop Dates and Times: 
    • Sundays (5, 12, 19, 26  May) 4-6pm |8 hours of learning | 160 AED
    • Wednesdays ( 8, 15, 22, 29 May) 4-6pm |8 hours of learning | 160 AED

Workshop Location: Villa #16 in Naseem Albahar, AlFaseel, near Sharq Hospital 

Tutor’s Biography: Mostafa Sedky

Mostafa graduated from the College of Engineering in 2007. Mostafa established an integrated curriculum for studying Islamic geometric decoration and launched a project to revive Islamic art in Cairo. He participated in a project to save Mamluk minbars in Cairo, where he was responsible for analyzing the Mamluk designs in the minbars that were being documented.

Mostafa published his first book, “Geometric Decoration, Rules and Principles.
