Advance the School of Calligraphy and Ornamentation Workshop “Nature Painting: Bees and Flowers in Watercolour” With the Irish artist specialising in botanical illustration Shevaun Dohertyin an artistic experiment that combines the beauty of nature with watercolour painting techniques.
During the workshop, participants will learn how to paint an Arabian honey bee on a flower using watercolours, by following a practical step-by-step demonstration and working from reference images and live demonstrations. They will also learn about colour mixing techniques and various watercolour techniques such as washes, glazing, and dry brushing, focusing on portraying light and shadow, and highlighting fine details and varied textures, from the softness of the flower petals to the transparent bee wings and its hairy body.
During the workshop, participants gain fascinating knowledge about the importance of honeybees and their vital role in pollinating plants and maintaining ecological balance, concluding the experience by completing a complete work of art that reflects their acquired skills and enhances their confidence in watercolour painting.
