Artist Residency Programme
The launch of the Arab Artists“ Artistic Residency under the title ”Refining Skills and Teaching the Art of Arab Miniatures" aims to restore this ancient art's presence in the Arab art scene, with the participation of a select group of artists and trainers from various countries. The residency will take place from 25 October to 15 November 2025, and aims to develop artistic skills and promote Arab aesthetic identity in the art of miniatures.
The programme offers an experience that combines theoretical and practical aspects, under the supervision of the artists Ruhollah Jahanbin and Jahangir Ashurov in the applied workshops, and Dr Mohammad Mahdi Hamidah for the theoretical side, which covers the evolution of miniature schools and the analysis of their various styles.
The initiative seeks to revive the art of miniatures in an authentic Arabic style, correct common errors in drawing and composition, alongside creating a database of qualified Arab artists to execute future miniature projects with a professional Arabic character.
The residency includes a group of artists from Algeria, Egypt, Yemen, Morocco, the UAE, and the Gulf states, including Ahmed and Aya Khalil, Hana Elmasry, Nasser Ali Marhab, Safia Al Hashemi, and Sabri Al Maati, in a move aimed at building an Arab cultural bridge that celebrates beauty, precision, and heritage.
The workshops take place at the Sea Hotel, with the programme providing participants with travel tickets, visas, hotel accommodation, transport, and all the necessary artistic tools to create an ideal environment combining comfort, focus, and creativity.
And the launch of the residency came under Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, who affirmed the Emirate's ongoing support for cultural and artistic initiatives aimed at enhancing the presence of Arab arts on the global stage.
The organisers of the project emphasise that this residency is not merely a training programme, but an investment in cultural identity and creative heritage, and an attempt to reconnect the past with the present and breathe new life into an Arab visual legacy that deserves to return to the forefront of contemporary art.
