His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of the Emirate of Fujairah, opened the exhibition «Imتداد – From Past to Present Manuscripts», organised by the School of Calligraphy and Decoration as part of the events of the second edition of the Fujairah International Conference for Calligraphy and Decoration.
The exhibition features over a hundred diverse artworks, presenting a visual dialogue between past and present through the arts of calligraphy, ornamentation, and manuscripts. The exhibition is divided into two main sections: the first showcases the history of manuscripts and bookmaking, and includes three rare Qur'anic manuscripts from different eras. The second section displays contemporary works by artists and calligraphers from within the UAE and abroad, inspired by the spirit of historical manuscripts to generate a modern artistic language.
Prestigious academic and cultural institutions from several countries are participating in the exhibition, reflecting the research and global dimension of this artistic event. The exhibition represents

Several countries, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Kingdom, Iraq, Turkey, Japan, Lebanon, Iran, Egypt, Tunisia, Syria, and Jordan, and it also dedicates a special space to UAE artists and local calligraphers to enhance their presence in a global context.
During the opening, His Highness the Crown Prince reviewed some of the participating works and discussed with the calligrapher artists their approaches and experiences in blending heritage with innovation. This exhibition comes as confirmation of the Fujairah leadership's keenness to support Islamic arts and highlight the emirate's status as a leading artistic and cultural platform.
