The Calligraphy and Ornamentation School in Fujairah hosted a specialised art workshop on Ebru art, presented by artist and educational specialist Na'em Othman Ahmed Al-Azibi. She has extensive experience combining education and the arts, graduating from Sana'a University in 1994 and continuing her studies in ceramics at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Cairo University. She has also held the position of Senior Art Education Consultant in Taiz Governorate since 2007 and has participated in over 25 international and Arab exhibitions.
During the workshop, artist Na'am introduced participants to the basics of Ebrus art, also known as the art of painting on water. This art form involves dropping colours onto the surface of water and manipulating them with innovative lines and shapes, before transferring them onto paper to create complete artworks. The course covered several themes, including miniature Ebrus, Mishat, Batal, and various patterns, allowing attendees ample opportunity to discover and practically apply the techniques of this unique art.
The participants engaged with the experience creatively and enthusiastically, producing their own works that reflected a diversity of artistic visions and styles, while artist Na'am provided precise practical guidance that helped them develop new skills in handling watercolours and movements.
Attendees praised the artist's teaching style, which combines academic depth with practical application, giving the workshop high educational and artistic value. Participants also considered the experience an opportunity to discover new ways of self-expression, and a unique field for immersing themselves in a global art form with ancient traditional roots.
The School of Calligraphy and Decoration highly appreciates the presence of artist Na'em and her contribution to reviving this unique art form. Her expertise and rich experience inspired the participants, adding significant artistic and intellectual value to the workshop, which enhanced its creative and cultural impact.
