The School of Calligraphy and Ornamentation participated in the Handcraft Exhibition organised by City University in Ajman, as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen its cultural presence and engage in community and educational events across the country.
This participation reflects the school’s commitment to building bridges of collaboration with academic institutions and creating opportunities to introduce its specialised educational programmes in Arabic calligraphy, ornamentation, and manuscript arts. During the exhibition, the school presented a selection of its artistic and educational works that highlight the richness and diversity of Islamic arts, alongside instructional samples that demonstrate its training methodology and academic approach.

The school also offered interactive introductory activities that allowed visitors to explore calligraphy tools and ornamentation techniques firsthand. Participants were introduced to the essential stages of producing an artwork, from initial planning and composition to the final execution. This hands-on engagement helped provide a clearer understanding of traditional arts, particularly for students interested in creative disciplines.
The participation served as a platform for meaningful dialogue with a diverse audience of students, faculty members, and art enthusiasts. Discussions focused on the importance of preserving traditional crafts while adapting them within a contemporary context. The event also contributed to raising awareness of the role of Islamic arts in shaping a renewed visual and cultural identity.
This participation forms part of a broader series of initiatives undertaken by the School of Calligraphy and Ornamentation to support the cultural landscape, expand awareness of traditional arts, and strengthen its presence within educational institutions and community events across the UAE.
