Exploring the Eight Variations – Islamic Geometry

The Eight Variations from the Alcázar of Seville

This workshop focuses on a family of eight variations taken from the historic Alcázar of Seville. Participants will learn the cultural context of these patterns and then begin drawing them step by step using a compass and ruler, outlining them with pencils and adding colour to create a complete design. The workshop aims to understand the historical context of Islamic geometric patterns and explore the eight variations of the Alcázar. It also enables participants to apply precise drawing and colouring techniques. At the end of the workshop, participants will complete a geometric work inspired by the Alcazar, gaining practical skills in construction and painting, as well as experiencing the meditative nature of drawing geometric patterns.
