Discovering Naskh Calligraphy

About

This engaging two-hour workshop aims to introduce participants to the history and importance of Naskh script and its role in Qurans and manuscripts. The session begins with a brief explanation of calligraphy and its traditional tools, such as the reed pen, ink, and paper. Participants then move on to practical application, learning the basic angles of the pen and how to form initial letters. During the experience, they will practice writing simple words such as "Allah" and "Bismillah" (In the Name of God), and will receive direct guidance in a small group setting, allowing for individual follow-up. At the end of the workshop, participants will have a personalised calligraphy sheet containing the letters and words they have learned, along with a practical understanding of calligraphy tools and basics. They will also be inspired to continue practising this fine art.
