What You’ll Learn

By the end of this course, you will:

• Recognize Diwani script and understand its unique features compared to other Arabic scripts like Naskh and Ruq’ah.

• Master the tools of the craft—learn how to hold the calligraphy pen correctly, prepare your ink and paper, and maintain the ideal pen angle for Diwani script.

• Draw individual letters with precision, applying the specific rules and proportions of Diwani calligraphy.

• Connect letters smoothly, mastering the initial, medial, and final forms to form beautiful and balanced words.

• Write short texts, such as your name, proverbs, or quotes, with aesthetic elegance.

• Create your own artwork, combining creativity and technique into a calligraphy piece suitable for display or gifting.

Learning Objectives

Throughout the course, you will:

• Gain insight into the history and origins of the Diwani script.

• Learn the essential calligraphy techniques and tools used by professionals.

• Practice writing the Arabic alphabet in Diwani, focusing on structure and balance.

• Understand the rules of letter connection and composition.

• Explore your creativity by designing a personal calligraphy project.

Age: Adults (16+)

Workshop Dates and Times: 

• Sundays, 11:00AM – 12:30PM
• 6 hours of learning – 120 AED
• Once a week on the following dates:  13, 20, 27 July and 3 Aug

Certificate: 

Please note that you should attend at least 90% of the hours to receive your attendance certificate for this course.

Supervising Calligrapher: Mr. Mohsen Nassar

Mr. Mohsen Nassar is a professional calligrapher and expert in Arabic scripts, with over 25 years of experience in the field of art. He has received numerous international awards across a wide range of calligraphic styles.
