Al-Muhaqqaq Script foundation – (April – Jun)

This workshop is perfect to explore the origins of the Muhaqqaq script and its most prominent uses during the Mamluk period, whether in Qur’anic manuscripts, official documents, or inscriptions. 

Course Goals:

  • learn the tools of Arabic calligraphy, such as pens and inks,
  • Preparing the inkwell
  • Sitting correctly for writing
  • Holding and controlling the calligraphy pen
  • Producing a small piece with Al Naskh calligraphy

Learning Objectives: 

  1. Learn how to write the alphabet in Muhaqqaq script.
  2. Learn how to write key letter and word connections.
  3. Learn how to write essential words.
  4. Learn how to write the Basmala (بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم).
  5. Write a short Surah, a Hadith, or a verse of poetry.
  6. Learn how to distinguish between Muhaqqaq, Mu’annaq, and Khafi Muhaqqaq scripts.

Course Outcome: Producing a series of simple written works.

Certificate: 

Please note that you should attend at least 90% of the whole course duration (all three months) to receive your CPD certificate for this course.
